WEST WINDOWS IN THE SANCTUARY

The great west window originally had a center medallion showing Hofmann's painting of the head of Christ. It was soon replaced with a new window, a gift from the James Johnson family. Mr. Johnson was the owner of Playland Park and had a special love for children. The window portrays Jesus and the Children of the World.   The original west window with the Hofmann painting of the head of Christ was moved to the North Transept, then to the Moench Chapel and is currently in storage.

Balcony Stairwell

One of the smallest and least known windows is in the balcony stairwell. Donated by the Junior Missionary Band, it contains a design taken from a postage stamp issued by the Dutch colony of Surinam in honor of the mission work done by Moravian Christians. A white hand is portrayed clasping a brown hand in front of the cross and the shackles of slavery are seen falling from the brown wrist.
