Healing Prayer
Tuesdays at 10 a.m. in the Rode Chapel
Whenever we are faced with serious illnesses, it does not happen to our bodies in isolation from our mind and spirit. Whatever happens to our bodies, also affects all aspects of our being – body/mind/spirit. For many, many years in our culture, the medical field focused only on our body’s ailments, but neglected to consider a patient as a whole. The Healing Prayer Service includes three components. We begin the service with Holy Communion, followed by anointing with oil, and concluding with soaking prayer and the laying on of hands. This follows the biblical understanding of healing:
“Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise them up…The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.”
